How this outline uses CEFR & Goethe resources
CEFR describes communication skills, not an exact grammar or vocabulary checklist. This is our suggested German learning sequence; topics overlap between levels. These outlines and starter selections are not a complete course or an exam checklist.
A1–B1 word selections reference Goethe’s published word lists. Translations and practice phrases are our own. For B2–C2, we have not found equivalent official word lists: those selections are ours, with links to Goethe’s exam practice materials. German with Busu is an independent project.
One small rule to start
A1 · Word orderThe verb takes second position.
In a simple German statement, the conjugated verb is the second sentence element. An element can contain more than one word.
What if we start with “today”?
Heute lerne ich Deutsch.
The verb stays in second position; the subject comes after it.
